C.S. Wachter

I am an armchair adventurer. Not to dismiss real-life adventuring, but give me a comfortable chair, a cup of warm tea or coffee in front of a fire in the winter or a nice glass of wine and a poolside recliner in the summer, and I’m one happy camper.

Ever since reading Lord of the Rings at the ripe old age of twelve, my favorite adventures usually involve fantasy. As Christian, however, I find myself avoiding much of what I see in fantasy today. It’s not all bad, but the trend away from God and his truths has led to a plethora of paranormal or supernatural (fantasy) stories where evil is combatted by human strength alone or with the help of stronger evil. Soulless vampires sparkle and pure unicorns are now evil meat eaters. Good and evil have been turned on their heads.

So, when I retired, I felt the Lord’s calling to write adventurous fantasy where God is represented as the true source of strength, truth, goodness, and light. I specifically wanted him to be an active presence throughout the story and not just a passive force. I hoped readers could grasp the fact that he is still active in our world and not an absent clockmaker who set this world in motion but has left us to fend for ourselves.

If you like fantasy, armchair adventuring in fantastical realms, but want to read books that are clean yet will keep you on the edge of your seat while still honoring God, come join me on my ongoing adventures in faith-filled fantasy.
